WHO'D be a councillor? However carefully you think out a decision, there's always someone with a better answer.
Could I have the opportunity to explain to Messrs Phillpotts and Parsons (Postbag, April 6) why we on the Malvern Hills Highways Partnership decided to install traffic lights at the Link Top junction?
It was because there had been a number of pedestrian injuries there. It was as simple as that. Surprisingly enough we considered a roundabout, filters and indeed every option in the book. We settled on lights as the effective answer, planned for the minimum restriction to traffic flow, because human lives were our top priority.
I do hope these two gentlemen will appreciate that we have responsibilities to pedestrians as well as car users.
JEREMY WEBB, county councillor, Malvern Trinity Division, Cowleigh Road, Malvern.
