THINK back to your childhood days and try to recall one personality from the world of sport or entertainment that you wanted to be like when you grew up.
For me it was Kevin Keegan or the World Superstars champion Brian Jacks.
Once you have chosen that person list some of the things you did to pattern your life after that 'childhood idol' in matters of dress, walk and speech.
Without even knowing it, you became a 'disciple' of that great personality, a follower and a learner of everything he or she did or said. Every TV appearance, every word, every mannerism became an object of intense interest to your commitment to be like that person, to model your life after another.
Does that clarify what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?
It takes commitment and dedication to be a disciple or follower of Jesus Christ. But, it doesn't cost a thing to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said in John 14:6, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.' Why not become a disciple or follower of Jesus today.
