WORCESTER City boss John Barton has urged his side to finish their home programme on a high note tomorrow.

City wind up their St George's Lane fixtures for the season against lowly Fisher Athletic in the Dr Martens League Premier Division (3pm).

And having scored 13 goals in their last four home outings, there won't be a better chance to add a few more, and boost their chances of finishing third.

"We finish off with four away games which is a little bit different to usual," said Barton, "but that's how it is.

"It will be nice to just sign off our home performances in a positive fashion.

"We have to some degree adjusted the horrendous home form we had been showing, and if that had been better we would have been in the championship race.

"The points dropped in the early part of the season were the difference in us being involved in the championship race or not."

There's another key reason for City wanting a result, and that's to avenge one of their most embarrassing defeats of the season against a Fisher side who will be relegated if they lose tomorrow.

Fisher were bottom of the table when City visited them in January, but fired up by new manager Keith Stevens, they won 1-0 with Carl Tranter's late penalty miss proving costly.

Barton added: "I thought we caught them at the wrong time. They had a new manager coming in and there was an immediate reaction to that.

"On the day we weren't good enough to get over that and win the game, and the long journey back was a hard one to swallow. We will be looking to avenge that."

City now lie fourth, level on points with Weymouth who have a game in hand, but have a six-point cushion over a whole gaggle of teams.

Barton added: "There is a little bit of a gap opening up, and because it involves so many teams, some of them are playing each other.

"There are going to be points dropped, and all sorts of situations will influence your final league placing.

"We have a tough run-in ourselves, but there is plenty to play for and it is nice for our season to look as if it is going into the final week."

Barton will have to count the walking wounded after last night's Dr Martens Cup final triumph over Crawley.

Midfielder Marc Burrow is almost certainly out with an ankle problem, while defenders Ian Cottrill (hamstring) and Chris Greenman (knee) will have late checks. Wesley Joyce, Mark Tucker and Steve Lutz could all step up from the substitutes' bench to the starting line-up.

Tomorrow's game will be preceded by the end-of-season presentations, including the supporters' and players' player of the year awards.
