THE Pump Room Series of Recitals in Cheltenham continues this week, with a performance by the Allegri String Quartet.
The quartet are joined by Rian de Waal, one of the Netherlands' most respected concert pianists, for a programme that includes Schumann's Piano Quintet in E Flat, Op.44, Haydn's String Quartet in G, Op.77 No.1 and Dvork's Piano Quintet in A, Op.81.
The Allegri Quartet has an enviable recording history, with three of its recordings being voted as first choice on the BBC programme Building A Library, and their recent CD of Haydn, Ravel and Schubert chosen as Record of the Month by Robert Cowan in CD News.
Rian de Waal has played with orchestras around the world, including Boston, Washington, Montreal and New York. In Europe, he makes regular appearances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra, the City of London Sinfonia and the State Orchestra of Lithuania.
The recital is at the Pittville Pump Room on Thursday (April 26), at 8pm. Tickets start at £8, and are available on 01242 227979.
