WORCESTERSHIRE are on course for their flood-damaged New Road ground to be ready for the first home County Championship Division Two match of the season to get under way against Sussex on Wednesday.
A variety of methods have been used to prepare the ground following the severe winter flooding.
They include using the down draught from a helicopter, piloted by County batsman Reuben Spiring, and re-turfing an area of the outfield badly affected by silt.
The deep turfing technique is used by many Premiership football clubs and the new National Stadium at Cardiff and allows the re-turfed area to be played on immediately.
After the Championship opener, Worcestershire follow up a week tomorrow with their first National Cricket league clash also against Sussex at New Road.
