HEREFORD United's hopes of returning to the Football League have been boosted with a move for two promotion places from the Nationwide Conference moving ever closer.
The League has offered the Conference an additional promotion place, and the Conference has asked for an urgent meeting with the league with the aim of introducing it next season.
Meetings with the Football Association are scheduled next week, while additional talks with the FA Premier League are also planned to help determine a universally accepted formula for calculating 'parachute payments' to clubs relegated at all levels.
Conference Chairman Bill King said: "The proposition for increased promotion places to the Football League is now fully accepted in the game. The next stage is to visit the parachute payment policy more carefully and arrive at a policy that sits comfortably at all levels of football.
"We have a very tight deadline to get this done in time for next season."
