I AM surprised that there has been no adverse comment on the large rise - more than 40 per cent - that the city council is implementing for car parking in the evenings.
Given that there's plenty of on-street parking available in the evenings in the city centre, I wonder whether the city council isn't shooting itself in the foot?
Of course, when the Tory councillors were in opposition, they opposed increases in car parking charges. Now they're in power, they increase them well in excess of the rate of inflation. Another Tory U-turn!
