IT appears that my previous letter (You Say, Friday, April 6) has ruffled a few feathers, so I shall endeavour to set the record straight.

It is true that sleaze has raised its ugly head within the ranks of New Labour, and some members have let the Government down badly.

Even so, it pales into insignificance, when compared to the antics of the Tory party Ministers when they held power.

I seem to recall a number of them serving prison sentences due to the nature of their corrupt activities.

Peter Alcock asks what I have to tell about recent events.

Just this:

The economy has never been healthier, interest rates are at an all-time low, and on course to reduce even further.

Unemployment is on the way down.

There is certainly room for optimism.

We have a Government which is working hard to make our country a better place for all of its people.

We should be proud of our country. We should be proud of our Government, and prove it when we go the polls.

Let us kick the Conservatives further into obscurity.
