WINTER weather has taken its toll on Cordyline plants but town councillors have granted a stay of execution for eight outside their civic building.
The tropical looking plants feature in beds outside St Richard's House, in Victoria Square.
At a Droitwich Spa Town Council meeting on Monday, Cllr Frank Payne (Lab, Droit.West) called for them to be removed because they look dead.
But Cllr Pam Davey (Con, Droit.South) said: "The jury is still out on this.
"It's been an exceptionally cold winter and it's debatable as to whether they'll sprout again.
"We just have to wait and see for a little longer."
