'The innocent are slaughtered. The sun shines on.'
Just one insight into the British premiere of a new translation by John Harrison of the timeless Greek tragedy Medea hitting the stage at the Palace Theatre on Tuesday, May 1.
The story is that of a woman stretched to the limits of her experience and promises to be as relevant today as when it was first written.
"Hers is a world beyond breaking hearts and searing tears, a place where love is no longer sick, but dead and mourned, a place where hurt feeds eternal" - heady stuff indeed.
Tickets for this fearsome production cost £6 (£5 discount rate or £4 Reddicard). For parties of 15 or above all seats are £4. Doors open at 7.30pm.
