STUDLEY will have to manage without the services of overseas quickie Brandon Miller when they open their Birmingham Senior Two Eastern campaign at Water Orton on Saturday (1pm start).
The South African pace ace does not jet into the country until next week so captain Mark Lewis and Stuart Harris will shoulder the burden of the bowling attack.
And Lewis said Saturday would prove a tough opener.
"I think Water Orton will be one of the strongest sides in the league this year," said the Studley skipper.
"They finished mid-table last season but have four or five quality players and will be desperate to improve on that.
"At this stage of the season the toss is all important, but if we can win it and put them in we have every chance.
"With the pitches damp it is unlikely to end in a draw."
Wicketkeeper Adie Hunt is doubtful through work commitments but Simon Stamenkovich is on standby.
Lewis' efforts to bring in a couple of new faces have so far drawn a blank but the Washford Fields captain is hoping to bring in a mystery new signing after the end of the football season.
The friendly visit of Redditch on Saturday was cancelled because of a damp pitch.
