A POLICE investigation is under way after two flammable 'devices' were thrown into the back garden of elderly Alvechurch residents on Monday.
Firefighters were called to the Tanyard Lane home at about 6.45pm and a fire investigation team was also called in, but the devices were put out before the brigade arrived.
Redditch police were alerted at about 7pm and CID officers were involved.
The occupants were not hurt and no damage was caused to the house, although there was slight damage to some garden furniture.
Sgt Andy Chinn, of Redditch police, said: "Luckily the fire did not take hold and there was minimal damage.
"The exact nature of the devices has yet to be established and this is an isolated incident but there is no reason to explain why anyone would want to do this. We hope it is a one-off."
Witnesses can call 584888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
