DROITWICH U7s 30 Walsall U7s 15. Jack Sealey and Henry Whitfield played their first game and were quickly involved in a defensive role. Andrew Bishop collected a loose ball and some fine passing by Matt Wilkinson and Tom Ryder sent Josh Skinner over to score. Droitwich then played attacking rugby with Wilkinson and MoM James Squire both having tries disallowed. Matt Wilkinson scored with a determined run and Robert Colemeadow grabbed the next try with a weaving run. Skinner added another three tries using his speed and tricky footwork.
Droitwich U8s 25 Walsall U8s 40. A slow start and some hard luck saw Droitwich well behind in the first few minutes, but some good tackling by Jack Scott-Walker and Sam Cave allowed Droitwich to set up tries for Sam Grove (two), MoM Scott Bridgewater, Arram Shuck and Joshua Grainger. Mike Anderson and David Robbins both played well.
Droitwich U8s 0 Walsall U8s15. A much improved performance but Droitwich could not score. MoM James Griffiths and Bill Hemming were outstanding and Chris May and Sam Grove both came close to scoring.
Droitwich Spa-rklers U10s 20 Walsall A U10s 0. The breakthrough came when the strong Droitwich pack began to dominate in open play, with Tom Stedmen scoring the first from a good pick up, shortly followed by David Millington scoring with a powerful determined run. This lifted the backs and in the second half Droitwich started running the ball better and started to exploit the gaps, resulting in tries for their flying wingers Chris Reece and Nick Houlston, who scored his 27th try of the season. Unselfish play from David Edwards opened Walsall up for the first and third tries, as he used his power to force Walsall to commit numbers into the maul before passing wide to free the runners. In the last few minutes, all nine players went looking for a score with MoM Luke Price, Matt Simkiss, Charles Jackson and Bobbie Scott-Walker all going close.
Droitwich Rockets U10s 10 Walsall A U10s 20. Captained by Lloyd Foulkes, Droitwich conceded an early try from a well-worked move. This spurred the Rockets onto raising their game and they struck back through Sean Hooper who powered his way over. Will Baillon went close as well when he sprinted for the line only to be caught inches short. At half time, the scores were level. In the second half Walsall used their backs well to open up a lead but Droitwich knuckled down and pulled one back through Liam Herlihy, who crowned a magnificent performance with a try after tackling superbly all morning. Droitwich's pack played well with Mitchell Williams, Jack O'hara and Tom Barker all getting stuck in. Phil Hurlston tackled well in defence and spread the ball beautifully in attack, earning him joint MoM with Liam Herlihy for working hard in the middle and linking well with Sean Hooper. The last few minutes saw Jack Pomroy constantly attacking the Walsall line trying to find a breakthrough.
Droitwich Tigers U11s 21 Walsall U11s 0. Having returned from a tour in France last Friday night, the Droitwich boys showed no signs of fatigue and attacked a strong Walsall side from the beginning. Building on strong scrummaging and winning most of the lineouts, it was only some speedy disruption from the Walsall backs that kept the score down. First Tom Milward drove over from close, then Alex Williams made a superb break from a scrum to score. Finally, Sean Dickinson found space on a narrow pitch to stretch the defence again. Jack O'Brien was on target with all three conversions.
Droitwich Wasps U11s 7 Walsall U11s 14. Droitwich fielded a bit of an experimental team in this game, with a number of players gaining experience in different positions. Ian Rouse made a welcome return after a spell with his brother in the under-12's at
Nottingham. Nevertheless, Tom Innett and Mat Hurlston made their mark in the pack and Joe Mazgajczyk and Jamie Darling worked hard in the backs. Marc Wiseman made use of his goalkeeping skills to intercept a kick and power over to score a try, which he converted himself.
Droitwich U12s 35 Walsall U12s 21. This was an excellent if rather late in the season return to form by the team as a whole. Walsall started with a quick attack and an equally quick try. However, Richard Reece carried the ball across the line to equalise. From that point on, the lads took off. Iain Young made two superb attacking moves and was well supported by the rest of the team, both these moves leading to tries. Walsall did not give up and managed to get one back just before half time. With the second half, it was Sam Gorman who carried the ball across the line after some good Droitwich pressure. Walsall counter attacked and got one back but Reece came in again and scored another to finish the game off. There was good running and excellent tackling from all the team. Try scorers were Richard Will Tait kicked four conversions and Iain Young one.
Bromsgrove U12s 25 Birming-ham/Solihull 15. Notorious slow starters, the home team surprised everyone by starting very impressively. Matthew Newman's tackle demolished the visitors attempt to run out of defence, the forwards won the ball allowing the backs to handle and Ben Raybould to score in the corner. Unfortunately the remainder of the first half was not as consistent. Ashley Pogson scored for Bromsgrove but Birmingham/Solihull scoring twice themselves. In a disjointed second half, Town improved and although they never achieved anything like top form, scored twice through Simon Roberts and once through Sam Schofield.
Bromsgrove U12s 5 Birming-ham/Solihull 25. For the second game Bromsgrove made ten changes and Birmingham/Solihull three. This meant that Jack Cawston and James Archer, playing only their third matches in the front row, were matched against the very big Birmingham/Solihull forwards. The whole town pack worked very hard but the sheer difference in size meant that they were always under pressure. Matthew Newell was the pick of the town backs, Luke Jones continues to develop and Will Gormley scored the team's only try.
Bromsgrove U13s 44 Birmingham/Solihull U13s 5. Bromsgrove continued their successful season with another comprehensive victory over B&S. David Hughes, Thomas Winterbottom and Richard Lee scored the first three tries. This was followed by the try of the half from Russel Ingram following a well worked back row move from the base of the scrum. Hughes conveted one of these tries. In the second half B&S used the slope to their advantage and claimed the first try. Bromsgrove defended well and then turned the game by scoring up the slope. Matthew Wood claimed two tries with the others coming from Hughes and Winterbottom. Special mention must be made of James Taylor 's strong running on the wing and John Deardon's continuing improvement as a hooker.
Birmingham/Solihull U14s 14 Bromsgrove U14s 27. Without a game for three weeks Bromsgrove started sluggishly, allowing the home team to exert all the early pressure. Missed tackles gave Birmingham/Solihull the opening points by way of a converted try. Thankfully, Bromsgrove reacted with their typical aggression driving support play. With centre Dan Davenport hungry for action after a six-week break with a broken hand, the game was turned around as he raced in for the next three tries. With plenty of lineout and scrum possession, the second half was much easier. Although some opportunities went begging, continued pressure saw Tom Crook and impressive debutante Martyn Hubbleday score tries. Hubbleday added one conversion. Birmingham/Solihull scored a break away second converted try just before the final whistle.
