LEAGUE officials have confirmed there will be no relegation from the West Midlands Womens Football League this season.

The announcement means lowly Redditch United Women will avoid the drop and manager Steve Tayler was left relieved after a shocking display on Saturday when the Abbey Stadium women lost 4-1 to second placed Southam.

"There was no atmosphere and no tempo to their game," said the frustrated coach.

"This is our first season and that was how we played earlier in the year.

"I thought we had left those sort of performances behind us but apparently not.

"With only 14 players to choose from we just have to plug away but unless there is an improvement I will be looking to bring in new faces next season.

"There will be changes at the weekend."

Midfielders Hayley Evans and Alex Walker (both calf problems) and striker Sarah Edney (thigh) shook off injuries to return to the side. Redditch visit Chelmsley on Sunday (ko 3pm).
