A MAN who claimed to be a plain clothes detective searched a 13-year-old boy at a Bromsgrove supermarket.
The man produced what appeared to be a warrant card at Asda, in Market Street, told staff he was a detective sergeant and said he believed the lad was acting suspiciously.
He took the youth outside the store to make the search, then left before the teenager's uncle came along and challenged the man's identity.
Bromsgrove police have no involvement in this alleged incident and investigations reveal no neighbouring forces were involved.
The youth was unhurt following the brief search and police are keen to hear from the man, especially if he was an officer passing through the town or staying locally, to establish what went on.
If you can help shed light on the incident, which happened last Thursday, call police on (01527) 584888 or 0800 555111.
