THE annual show took place on April 14 and there were some outstanding displays by visiting societies, including some rare and unusual plants.

The winners were: The Society Cup for the most points in show went to Malcolm Moodie, who also won the Durrant Cup for the best Cattleya; the Margaret Turton Cup for the best Phalaenopsis; the Trevor Turton Cup for the best Paphiopedilum; the Wylde Court Cup for the best Lycaste or allied Genera. The Bedlam Trophy for Hybrids for the most points awarded at the monthly table shows was also won by Malcolm.

Brian Cope won the Founders Shield for the best grown plant and the Bedlam Trophy for best Monopodial Orchid, plus the Vanderville Trophy for best species.

The Gloria Cotton Cup for best Mini Cymbidium was won by Trish Carney, who also won the Harry Wilshaw Cup for best plant in section B.

The SA Jarrett Cup for best Odontoglossum was won by Margaret Dale.

Jack Woolman won the Shirley Goblet for best Cymbidium and the Dendrobium Trophy for best Dendrobium was awarded to Ziggy Urdzins.

The Committee Trophy for Species was awarded to Monica Johnson for the most points awarded at the monthly table shows.

The next meeting is on May 5 when Malcolm Perry will be giving a talk and slide show on Bulbophyllums.
