Bewdley drew their first match in Worcestershire County League Division One against Bromyard on a good wicket at Lower Park.
In front of an enthusiastic crowd, Bewdley, who won the toss, generally bowled and fielded well.
Mark Edwards bowled throughout the innings and deserved his outstanding figures of 7-77.
Edwards was well supported by John Peer and Mark Bennett.
However, Bromyard's total of 184-8 was challenging on a slow outfield so early in the season.
In reply, Bewdley lost Darren Watkins to the second ball of the innings but Simon Smith then led a spirited counter-attack.
Smith and Mark Venross added 62 for the second wicket with the latter batting with great composure in a valuable support role.
When both were out in quick succession and Peter Mauger also departed, Bennett and Colin Harris came together in another good partnership, putting on 50 for the fifth wicket.
At 136-4, Bewdley were well placed but three quick wickets left Edwards and Ewan Peer no choice but to play out for the draw on 162-7 as the light deteriorated alarmingly.
However, it was an encouraging start to the season for Bewdley who proved they are equipped to perform well at this level.
The seconds match at Bewdley was abandoned.
