PARENTS of pupils at all Bewdley schools have been warned of the deadly consequences young vandals could face in the wake of arson attacks on schools.

David Bailey, head of St Anne's First School, Wyre Hill, said the latest wheelie bin fire had damaged the boiler room, which houses electricity mains also used by the middle school.

Police have set up an action plan to monitor trespassing and vandalism and issued warnings to parents. Chief Insp Mark Williams, of Kidderminster Police, said vandals risked causing an explosion and injuring themselves following the latest incident on April 17.

Mr Bailey added: "One of the bins had been pushed up against the boiler room door and they had set fire to it. It had burnt the door down and quite a bit of the roof space."

He said the bins, which had been frequently targeted by arsonists had now been moved to prevent attacks.

Anyone with information about the attacks should call Kidderminster Police on 01562 820888.
