Tiverton Town 2, Evesham Utd 0
DEFEAT at Tiverton last Wednesday made it 25 points surrendered in games against a handful of top seven rivals.
The Devonians became the third side to complete a season's double over Phil Mullen's men but the scoreline hides the fact that Evesham outplayed Town for much of the match.
Torrential rain and a floodlight failure added to the excitement and it was a relieved home side that finally clinched the points when Steve Ovens fired in a second ten minutes from time.
The goal came courtesy of a defensive error and more sloppy play allowed Steve Winter the chance to cross for Ovens to volley Tiverton ahead after 28 minutes.
Before then Stuart Payne's header had struck a defender's foot on the line, while Paul Edward's produced a marvellous stop to keep out Shaun Pratt's header.
Richard Clark was also denied by a goalline clearance before the break, while the defender's header, after a 12 minute second half stoppage, flashed a yard over the crossbar.
Phil Preedy and Pratt tested Edwards before Clark's slip on the wet surface gifted a relieved Town the points.
