AGGBOROUGH stages its final Third Division clash of the season when promotion-chasing Hartlepool United visit on Saturday.

Kidderminster Harriers created a Hoo Road fortress during their Conference-winning campaign.

But stronger Football League defences have affected their 2000/2001 record of 10 wins, six draws and six defeats with just 29 goals scored and 26 conceded.

However, there have been signs of improvement recently with 3-1 and 3-0 wins over Shrewsbury Town and Plymouth Argyle.

And Harriers recorded a superb 3-1 victory at rivals Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

Assistant boss Gary Barnett said: "On the whole, our home form has been good. We always try to win games here and that's one of the major reasons we got off to such a good start.

"It has been difficult at times because a lot of teams have put many men behind the ball. But it should be very exciting against Hartlepool."

Hartlepool are determined to hold onto fourth place which could mean automatic promotion as Chesterfield's punishment for financial irregularities is being reviewed by the Football League.

Barnett added: "They have to win - it's a massive game for them.

"Tommy Miller has had another excellent season with goals from midfield and their players work hard for each other.

"There have been a lot of positives from our last two games.

"It's taken a while for some of the players to adapt to the Third Division. Hopefully, we have got there and can carry this sort of form on next season.

"Confidence is a major factor and that's come flooding back into our players."

Midfielder Paul Webb and Drewe Broughton have hamstring problems with Webb less likely to be fit for Saturday.

Meanwhile, Harriers have taken 26-year-old Danish forward Jesper Hjorth, of Darlington, on trial.

The Shuttle, Times & News will announce its player of the season at the final home game, one of six awards before kick-off.

There is also a supporters' player, junior supporters' player, sponsors' player, young player and clubman of the year.

Meanwhile, Jan Molby was fined £500 plus costs at an FA personal hearing for foul and abusive language towards a fourth official.

He was sent from the dugout at half-time in February's 4-2 home defeat to Cardiff City.

Harriers play Alvechurch in the Worcestershire Youth Cup final after two Richard Langford goals helped them beat Redditch 2-1.
