PENSIONERS will have the option of a free Wyre Forest bus pass for the first time under a new scheme to be introduced next week.
A change in Government legislation means people of state pension age and certain disabilities can now have a free pass which means all district journeys are charged at half price.
The existing Wyre Forest concessionary scheme costs £5 for a pass, with district journeys then charged at 35p.
Passes will be available, with travel tokens that can be used with local taxi services for those who are unable to use a bus, from Monday at 16 sites throughout Wyre Forest.
They will be valid for a 13-month period starting on June 3.
Details on the scheme are available by telephoning 01562 732735.
