FORMER Evesham skipper Simon Price slammed a maiden century to help new club Badsey defeat Ashton by 91 runs in Sunday's friendly at Ballards Park.

Price and fellow opener Wayne Pearse, who fell four runs short of a century, added 203 for the first wicket as the hosts raced to an impressive 244-4 in their 40 overs.

The chasers were never in the hunt after tea once John Osborne had taken three early wickets in a spell of 3-30 from 11 overs.

Jason Haines (31no) and Ali Keen then dug in to steer Ashton to 153-7 at the close despite nine different players turning their arm.

Badsey are scheduled to continue their Cotswold Hills League preparation at Exhall and Wixford on Sunday.

Division Two, though, is likely to be badly affected by the Foot and Mouth outbreak with three clubs - Alcester and Ragley, Norton Lindsey and Stratford Bards - unable to get on their grounds.

Bidford are a fourth member club understood to be having problems before the season gets under way on Saturday, May 5.

Broadway have cancelled this weekend's scheduled friendly at Winchcombe following the tragic death in a car crash of newly elected first team captain Phil Hatt.
