NCCPG: (National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens). What a delightful evening we spent in Japanese gardens with Charles Chesshire from Burford House. His fascination with his subject held our attention, supplemented by unusual and beautiful slides and captured our imagination with the easy way he seemed to include us in his stories. Last plans were made with the members to help at our annual plant fair to be held on Bank Holiday Monday (May 7) at Pershore College. Outside if fine but in the Frank Parkinson Centre if not. Admission is free to the public and refreshments will be available all day. Nurseries will be bringing unusual and interesting plants and we will be having our own NCCPG stand. A must for connoisseurs and all plant lovers. Come and join us On May 8 we will be having a practical demonstration by Bob Hares, a member of the NCCPG and retired lecturer of Pershore College. HERITAGE AND HISTORY SOCIETY: Will hold the next monthly meeting, as usual, at Wulstan Hall, Priest Lane, Pershore on May 3 at 7.30pm. Raffle, tea/coffee available, admission free to members, £1 for visitors. 'Salt from Droitwich to the Sea' by Dr M Nixon is the subject of the illustrated talk. Everyone welcome.

ABBEY PARK FIRST SCHOOL: Are holding a May fair on the school premises on May 4 at 6pm. Everyone is welcome to go along and join in the fun.

ALLOTMENT ASSOCIATION: There are still some potatoes orders to be collected and also seed potatoes are in sale in The Gardener's Arms on Sunday between 10am and noon. ARTHRITIS RESEARCH CAMPAIGN: The Easter fair which this year was held at The Old School Room, Charlton, near Pershore last Saturday. The usual stalls, including ARC goods, plants, cakes, bring and buy. Tombola and raffle were busy during the event. The public secretary, Helen Fowler is delighted to report that the event was extremely well attended by supporters local and from afar. A grand total of £470 was made and thanks must go to everyone who attended and also all the helpers who helped to make the Easter fair into such a success. AN EVENING IN CONCERT: With 'Country Company' being held at The Berkeley Arms, Evesham Road, Spetchley. The evening promises an enjoyable country and western night tomorrow (Friday) from 7.30-11.30pm. Refreshments will be available and a raffle will also be held. CHORAL SOCIETY: Are presenting Haydn Creation with Kathleen Fuge soprano, Jason Darbet tenor and Simon Wilson bass. Andrew Wilson is the conductor. CARNIVAL: May Bank Holiday Monday, May 28, is getting closer all the time and this years carnival is to be based on a 'Celebration of Cinema'. It is hoped that a record number of donations can be made to local charities, and the carnival organisers are hoping for an even better year this year.
