GARDENING CLUB: Members met at the Memorial Hall on March 28 for the Spring Flower Show.
It was a hive of industry, once more, as beautiful spring flowers such as daffodils, primroses, hellebores, pansies, wended their way into the hall, via their owners. Trestle tables groaned, yet again, as exhibits were placed upon them. The judges Mr F Potter and Mrs Lil Smith had a difficult task when judging the spring flowers and a miniature flower arrangement, while Jim Cowan, after having judged the home-made wine, thought it was time to go home, but tasting the home-made apple pie thought he would stay a little while longer. The Hills Nurseries Silver Salver for the most points throughout the year, was duly awarded to Mrs Ros Fairbrother by Mr F Potter. The next meeting will be on April 25, when Nick Hall will be giving a talk on clematis and the competition will be a pot plant.
