FARMERS' markets will have a vital part to play in the regeneration of the rural economy, according to the Country Land and Business Association.
The CLA is keen to see farmers' markets across the Midlands re-open as soon as possible.
"We understand the reasons for closing farmers' markets in Worcestershire," said Frances Beatty, CLA regional director for the West Midlands, "But it is good to see those in Warwickshire, which has fewer foot and mouth cases, open for business again.
"Because of the current crisis only around 35% of farmers' markets are open and I would urge local authorities to assess each case on its merits."
Mrs Beatty added: "Farmers' markets should be an important part of the rural economy, not some rare novelty.
"They enable local producers to market their produce directly, resulting in much better margins.
"At the same time, it is becoming increasingly important to many consumers to be able to trace the origin of their food, especially meat.
"This link between producer and consumer has been lost over recent decades, and the growth of farmers' markets can go some way to restoring it."
