Pershore 10 pts, Evesham 10
PERSHORE played their last game of the season against local rivals Evesham and should have won at a canter.
If possession and territory could win games it would have been over at half time. But unfortunately, not for the first time this season, Pershore could not convert this into points.
Pershore kicked an early penalty through Phil Green and soon after, speedy winger Jason Trill cut inside then outside his winger to score under the posts. Green converted.
The second half saw Pershore once again play all the rugby, but a needless turnover enabled classy Evesham full-back Doug Payne to score a try converted by Paul Turpitt.
Wave upon wave of Pershore attacks on the Evesham line were thwarted by either good defence or poor ball retention.
Turpitt then drew Evesham level with a late penalty.
Still it has been an extremely good season for Pershore, only losing three games all season and two of those by one point.
Pershore remained unbeaten at home but, having gained promotion, the hard work will come in the summer.
Evesham's fourth team hit back in fine style after the previous week's defeat when they proved too good for their Malvern counterparts in a comprehensive 58-21 win.
Eamonn Farrell, Tom Ferguson and Dan Taylor all notched a hat-trick of tries with hooker Jamie Mackie completing the scoring.
Mike Biltcliffe added four conversions.
The successful side turn out for the last time this weekend when they tackle their third team clubmates on Sunday in a game sponsored by Ferryfast, ko 11am.
