THE Nonentities are planning to move audiences to tears with their latest production.

The Kidderminster group will be performing Ivan Menchell's "affecting comedy" The Cemetery Club at the town's Rose Theatre next week.

The plot revolves around three Jewish American widows who try to get on with their lives in between visiting their husbands' graves.

Nonentities artistic director Liz Cole described it as "a lovely 'women's play'".

She added: "In many ways this is the show of the season.

"Certainly all our supporters who like well-made plays and who packed in for Straight and Narrow and Night Must Fall should be back at The Rose in force.

"The play is delightful - as good as a Neil Simon comedy."

The production is being sponsored by Shiela Jacobs, who last year produced The Railway Children for the Nonentities and was honoured by the group for her 50 years service with a benefit night.

In the play, one of the three widows, Ida, attracts the attentions of Sam "the playboy butcher", which prompts her companions Lucille and Doris to take decisive remedial action - with hilarious results.

A spokeswoman for the Rose Theatre described the play as a "well observed sentimental comedy, it will charm audiences and at times move them to tears".

It is on from Monday until Saturday. Tickets start at £5.50, with group rates available, and can be booked by calling the box office on 01562 743745.
