I HEAR that the Severn is now considered to be one of the highest-polluted rivers in Britain.
It would be reassuring to know if we are adequately protected from nitrates and fluids other than rainwater that are finding their way into the river.
Then there's the scourge of foot-and-mouth disease, much of which must be washed away.
What's happening to our countryside?
Are the present sewage disposal works capable of dealing with increasing volumes? And where does all the rubbish go?
