THE weather seemed to be a good deal better a quarter of a century ago, if the Malvern Gazette of 1976 is to be believed.
It reports that sunny weather over the Easter weekend brought crowds to Malvern for the first holiday of the year.
"Most made their way to the hills, where car parks were full and cafes at St Ann's Well, on the Worcestershire Beacon and at the Kettle Sings did a roaring trade.
"For a change, the weather was kind to Squires Fair on the Link Common, to the delight of the younger element."
Grass track racing at the Three Counties Showground and an important soccer match at Victoria Park also benefited.
