The reception accorded Earl Beauchamp on his return to Madresfield Court last evening was of the most enthusiastic character. Not only his tenants, but others having no connection with the Madresfield estates, joined in the welcome, which must have been very gratifying to his lordship. Malvern Gazette, April 26, 1901.
MR H. Rider Haggard is staying at St Katherine's, Ledbury, for a few days. The celebrated novelist is here in the course of a very important mission, viz, investigating the agricultural condition of England. Many of our readers are no doubt aware that Mr Rider Haggard is visiting every county on a mission of inquiry into the depopulation of rural districts. Ledbury Free Press, April 30, 1901.

The need for the installation of some kind of heating in the swimming bath in Priory Park was again emphasised at the annual meeting of Malvern Swimming Club.
Mr B S Ranford said: "We have been trying to get the council to do something for years. It is a handicap to the club, and if heating was installed, there would not be much of a loss because of increased revenue." Malvern Gazette, April 27, 1951.
The nomination of ten candidates for five vacancies on Ledbury UDC has aroused more interest in local elections than for a number of years. Last year, there were seven candidates for the same number of seats. Polling day is May 7. Ledbury Reporter, April 27, 1951.

The League of Friends of Malvern Community Hospital has been given a fine porcelain piece, 'Young Bonaparte's Gulls', by Boehm of Malvern, to be used to raise funds in aid of the hospital Day Room appeal.
The appeal has made a steady start, donations so far totalling £156.30. Malvern Gazette, April 29, 1976.
The historic setting of Church Lane, Ledbury, is to provide the background for scenes in a film based on Henry Fielding's novel, Joseph Andrews.
The film is being made by Woodfall Ltd of Bath, which produced the film epic, Tom Jones by the same 18th Century author. Ledbury Reporter, April 29, 1976.
