EVERY voter in Malvern is being given a unique opportunity to pass judgment on the performance of their town councillors in a poll on Tuesday, May 1.

Opponents of Malvern Town Council's spending plans and this year's tax rise have demanded and been granted the chance to test the verdict of the electorate.

The question voters will be asked is:

"Do you think that the entire council should resign and that the councillors should stand for re-election to give the taxpayers the opportunity to express their views on the performance and increased expenditure by the town council?"

The poll is being organised by Malvern Hills District Council and a result will be declared on Tuesday night after the count at The Forum. The count is not open to the public.

The result is an expression of the electorate's view and is in no way legally binding on Malvern Town Council.

Being a parish election, there are no polling cards sent to households. It is up to voters to be aware of the election.

Polling stations will be open between 4pm to 9pm and are: Christ Church Hall, Avenue Road; Great Malvern Primary School, Pickersleigh Road; Foley Institute, Poolbrook Road; St Mary's Church Hall, Sherrards Green Road; Malvern Link CE School, Cromwell Road; The Common Room, Isobel Harrison Gardens, Worcester Road; Priory Lodge Hall, Church Street; Somers Park Methodist Church Hall; Lower Hall, Holy Trinity Parish Hall; The Scout Hut, Cowleigh Bank.

Anyone unsure where to vote should contact Electoral Services on 01684 862212.
