LTFC 2000 are confirmed as Champions of the Sterling Classic Malvern Football League in their first season in the League having inflicted a fourth successive defeat on visitors Morgan.
No less than three of the matches played on Sunday resulted in a 3-2 win for the home sides, and Leon Roberts, Ashley Jones and an own goal allowed LTFC 2000 to collect their first silverware with an unbeaten League record. Richard Bird was twice on target for Morgan as their disappointing end to the season continued.
In the long awaiting Sunday Senior Cup Semi-final tie between Bell Inn 98 and Fromes Hill it was Bell Inn 98 who will be making their first appearance at this season's Cup Final after a 3-2 victory over their local rivals. Mark Butler gave Bell Inn 98 an important lead, only for James Howard to equalise before the half-time interval to leave the game evenly poised at the midway stage.
In the second period it was Darren Cooke and Tony Reynolds who provided a 3-1 lead and again James Howard brought a goal back for Fromes Hill to set up a tense finale.
It was however, Bell Inn 98 who overcame their League double against Fromes Hill to book their place in the Final on Sunday, May 13 against Morgan.
Club AC 30 are looking favourites in the run in to achieve second place in the League after two wins recently. Against Morgan on Thursday, Aaron Parr scored twice for the home side and along with a Tony Reece effort they won by the odd goal in five to record a moral boosting 3-2 victory against their rivals for the runners-up position. On Sunday they entertained Portobello United and it was the strike partnership of Tony Reece and Aaron Parr again who defeated their opponents 8-2. Parr collecting five goals and Reece a hat-trick. Gary Boyce and Owen Meekes were on the scoresheet for United.
It was a case of deja-vu for Morgan Aero 8 who twice let slip a two goal advantage to record two 2-2 results. On Thursday Jordan Miller and Mike Griffin were on target for Aero 8 as they led 2-0 at half-time, however United scored through the in-form Justin Davies and Alan Barnes. On Sunday it was a similar scenario with Ben Jones and Simon Rushin hitting the back of the net for Morgan Aero 8 and they held their two goal lead until the last five minutes against Callow End Harriers, until James Nightingale and Nathan Dixon each scored to leave the result honours even.
Talbot Head were the third side to record a 3-2 home win against Bull Allstars, as Conrad Arnold for Talbot Head and Mark Toman for Allstars saw the score level at half-time. In the remaining 45 minutes it was Mark Robinson who restored the lead for the home side until a penalty despatched by Mark Toman looked to record a point a piece, until a late effort from Lee Manion gave Talbot the three points.
This Sunday evening sees the Final of the President's Cup with last season's finalists Club AC 30 against Bull Allstars making a cup final appearance in their first season in the League. Kick-off is at 6.30pm at Langland Stadium, by kind permission of Malvern Town FC.
The Rosebowl Semi-final tie between Kempsey and Westbury 2000 in the Under 18s Youth Division, has been scheduled for this Sunday at County Sports ground, Worcester.
