MALVERN Olympian Ceris Gilfillan's performance for the Great Britain cycling team in Sydney has put her former school in the picture.
As an official sponsor of the British Olympic Association, Kellogg's organised a Personal Best Awards Scheme for Team GB at the Sydney Olympic Games. Athletes who achieved a personal best at the Games qualified for a cash award, with an equivalent sum going to a school or sports organisation which they felt had been key to their sporting career.
Ceris Gilfillan nominated The Chase as being instrumental in her development and the school has therefore received a Kellogg's Personal Best Award amounting to £1,020.41. Ceris is the latest in the line of elite athletes to have contributed to the school's Sportsmark Gold Award.
After consultation with Ceris, Jane Powell, Head of PE at the Chase, has decided to spend the money on digital camera equipment, which will be used throughout the school for examination subjects, display, observation and analysis.
Jane Powell said: "This award from an ex-pupil will benefit those already in school, generations to come and, who knows, maybe another future Olympic star!"
