WORCESTER City boss John Barton wants his side to follow Margate's example if they are to challenge for the Dr Martens League Premier Division title.
City lost 3-0 at Margate on Saturday, a result which left the Kent club needing just a point from their last two games to clinch the championship.
The result also hit City's hopes of finishing third, but they have a game in hand on King's Lynn, who currently occupy that position, and are three points behind.
Barton said of Margate: "They are a well-organised, functional team with team being the operative word. They have players who perform week in week out to the standard the manager wants.
"Chris Kinnear knows better than any other manager in this league what he is going to get from his side. That is what we have to strive to do, otherwise we will never bridge the gap.
"We have seen the standard and level of consistency that we have got to hit."
City visit Crawley Town on Thursday, before finishing with a trip to Havant and Waterlooville next Saturday.
n St George's Lane hosts the final of the Worcestershire FA Senior Urn tonight, with Malvern facing Studley (7.30).
