ON Easter Sunday we took our family visitors to Broadway, Worcestershire, for a walk and tea.
The town was busy, and brisk trade was being done at cafs, shops and tea rooms.
We were, however, surprised to find a group of people requiring accommodation standing outside the Tourist Information Office, which was closed.
Good business was therefore turned away at a time when hoteliers and B&B establishments are pleading for tourists to come here.
I telephoned Broadway Tourist Information Office to ask why they were closed over such a busy weekend.
I was told they are never open on Sundays as the volunteers like Sundays with their families, and people wanting accommodation should have contacted them earlier rather than wait until they arrived.
So much for services to tourists - no one caters for those with a sudden desire to stay to explore "Broadway the Jewel of the Cotswolds".
If local businesses wish to complain, perhaps they should start with their inflexible Tourist Office.
As a matter of interest, Brighton Tourist Office was open throughout the whole holiday period.
