A quite opening spell developed into an open, entertaining Division Three clash.

Hartlepool's Tony Lormor almost broke the deadlock with a fine piece of skill on 24 minutes, controlling the ball 20 yards from goal and rifling a fine right-footed drive just wide.

Harriers won their first penalty of the season two minutes later when Mark Tinkler was adjudged to have handled the ball as he nipped into dispossess Hadley just inside the box.

But Drewe Broughton's low spot-kick to Anthony Williams' right was tipped around the post by the agile keeper. Drewe Broughton

And then big forward Broughton was cautioned for a foul from the resulting corner taken by Thomas Skovbjerg.

Neil Mackenzie hit a 25-yard shot wide on 28 minutes as Harriers continued to press forward.

Tinkler missed a good chance for the visitors on 31 minutes when Ian Clark's right-wing corner beat everybody and the unmarked former Leeds trainee sent a far-post header off-target.

Clark strode forward on 33 minutes from midfield to let fly with a skidding effort that went well wide of Clarke's left hand post.

Clarke kept Harriers in the game on 35 minutes with a stunning double save.

First, he chipped Lormor's header from a Clark cross onto the bar then he reacted quickly to brilliantly parry the rebound struck viciously on the half-volley by Miller.

Mackenzie tried his luck again from distance on 37 minutes but his well-struck wind-assisted shot failed to trouble the keeper Williams.
