BATTING hero Paul Pollard will need a fitness check before Worcestershire finalise their side for tomorrow's Benson and Hedges Cup clash with Glamorgan at Cardiff.
The former Nottinghamshire left hander battled through the pain barrier yesterday during his Gold Award winning performance against Northamptonshire at Kidderminster.
He said: "I've tweaked something right at the top of my hamstring. I did it more or less in the first or second over of the game.
"It's a thing I have had for quite a while. I know if you stop that's when it becomes sore and it will stiffen up. That's the problem. I could have called for a runner but I thought that if I kept moving it would probably be better. I just hope it hasn't made it any worse, but that's the reason I carried on."
After scoring 69 in yesterday's 96-run win over Northants, Pollard was unable to field and was quickly on the treatment table.
"It is a worry at the moment, but winning the game was the most important thing," he said after collecting his first Gold Award in 15 seasons as a county cricketer.
Yesterday's triumph followed the County's five-wicket success over Sussex in the Norwich Union League Division Two on Sunday.
They return to New Road on Friday to meet Somerset in another Benson game. On Sunday they play Gloucestershire at Bristol and wrap up their zonal matches against Warwickshire at New Road the following day.
