A RECLUSIVE pensioner found fully clothed in a bathtub with cuts to his neck and wrists may also have swallowed bleach, an inquest heard.
The body of Walter Bennett was discovered in his Kidderminster home on Thursday, April 12.
Despite the cuts, there was no knife or bladed weapon in the bathroom.
However, a bloodied craft knife was found in a nearby bedroom.
Coroner's officer Michael Richards told a Stourbridge County Court inquest that the 76-year-old had no known family and was identified by a warden, Glenys Read, who discovered him in the bath.
A concerned neighbour raised the alarm after Mr Bennett, who kept himself to himself, was not seen for a few days.
Coroner Victor Round said Mr Bennett had been referred for psychiatric help and there were no signs of forced entry.
He added there was a suggestion Mr Bennett could have consumed some bleach.
No cause of death was given and the case was adjourned while awaiting the result of tests on samples.
