A FORMER NEW College student will be rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous when she starts work as a make-up artist on the forthcoming Harry Potter film, based on the popular children's books by JK Rowling.

Jo Glover will be working alongside special effects expert Nick Dudman on the film, which features stars including Alan Rickman, Julie Walters and John Cleese.

Jo, who attended the college's full-time theatrical and media make-up course in 1995/6, has also recently worked on the West End production of The Lion King as a make-up artist and special effects technician.

And moving into the film industry, the make-up artist has also worked on set with actors including Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz and John Hannah, who appear in the sequel to the hit movie The Mummy.

The Mummy Returns is due to be released on Friday.

Lecturer Margie Thompson said: "Jo's success is truly an endorsement of both her talent and determination to succeed in this highly competitive and glamorous profession.

"We are proud to be able to claim some part in her success."
