TWO NEW College students hoped to know their crab from their cockles when they competed in the semi-final of the National Seafish Cookery competition yesterday.
Hospitality and catering students Daniel Crawley and Laura Emes worked together to prepare, cook and serve their chosen menu to a table of five diners at the competition, which took place at Cambridge Regional College.
A panel of three top chefs were set to judge the event, with only the first four teams going through to the grand final held at Grimsby College in June.
The competition rules dictated the three-course menu should include a starter using smoked fish or shellfish, a main course featuring a lesser-known fish followed by a dessert of the team's choice.
