THE freedom to go anywhere is what young Kayleigh Thomas really craves.

But for the nine-year-old Batchley youngster, that liberty is severely limited because of the constant need not to stray too far from her nebuliser - a life saving piece of equipment to treat her acute asthma.

But that could all change if the Bel-Canto singers have anything to do with it as they prepare for an evening of musical fund-raising to buy Kayleigh a portable nebuliser.

The event has been organised by the New Warren Lodge of the Buffaloes of Redditch.

Kayleigh's mum, Tracy Thomas, said: "Kayleigh has to use the nebuliser four times a day for her drug treatment.

"But because the one she's got isn't portable, she can't really go far because she's always got to come back home

"So things like going abroad are completely out of the question. The furthest she's ever been is Blackpool and when the flowers are out in the summer, she's got no chance.

"A portable nebuliser would transform her quality of life."

Ms Thomas added: "For the Buffaloes to do this for her is great."

The portable nebuliser would be battery powered and cost hundreds of pounds.

Buffaloes treasurer and Bel-Canto singer Colin Vaughan said: "We have done a lot of fund-raising over the years and we just thought that buying Kayleigh a nebuliser would be a really worthy cause."

The Bel-Canto singers will be belting out hits from the musicals at the Polish Club, Oakley Road, Smallwood, on Saturday. Doors open at 7.15pm and tickets cost £4. For more details, call Mr Vaughan on 454008.
