TWO men stole £300 from the home of an elderly Droitwich woman and fled when caught red-handed.
The Spa pensioner let the men into her Ombersley Road property last Wednesday when they claimed to be doing repair work.
While one man kept the OAP talking between 8.30pm and 9pm, his accomplice searched the house.
The resident became suspicious and on entering her bedroom discovered the other man searching the room.
The thieves fled with £300 in mixed notes. Some were old style £20 notes.
PC Andy Simkins, of West Mercia Constabulary, said: "It's a sad thing to say, but I would urge people to make sure they know whose at their door.
"If you have any doubts, don't let them in."
The men are described as white, of medium build and aged between 20 and 26.
One is said to be 5ft 8in, with short, light brown hair, a fresh complexion, clean shaven, and a local accent.
He wore a short blue or grey jacket, dark trousers, a fawn-coloured jumper and trainers.
The other man is described as 5ft 6in, with short, dark, tidy hair.
He had a pale complexion, was clean shaven, with no noticeable accent.
He was wearing a light coloured jacket and trousers, a sweater which was lighter than the jacket, and trainers.
PC Simkins added: "It's possible these men may try to pass on the old style notes to family, friends, shops or banks.
"If someone matching the description offers them to you, contact us immediately."
