TEAMS of charitable residents will be rafting along the town's canal at a charity bash this summer.
Droitwich Canals Trust is organising a weekend of events to raise cash for an ambitious project to restore the town's landlocked waterways.
Volunteers want to resurrect the town raft race which hasn't been held for more than ten years.
The fun will coincide with the Real Ale and Wine Festival, beginning on Thursday June 14.
Events, which will be centred on the Railway Inn, off Kidderminster Road, include an Irish night, dancing, a jazz concert, pig roast and a growers' market in Vines Park. The weekend will culminate with a water festival and the raft race.
Event organiser Peter Quick said: "We're hoping to get at least 30 rafts at the basin for a mad dash along part of the canal and back.
"It'll be thirsty work so the winners get 11 gallons of their favourite beer."
Entrance for the raft race is £10. Money raised will go towards a £100,000 project to restore three locks at Hanbury Wharf.
