IT is with great sadness I feel obliged to write concerning the decision of Bromsgrove's MP not to sign the anti-race pledge that William Hague signed along with the other main political party leaders.
Julie Kirkbride enjoys a high profile in the media.
To miss this opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder alongside other politicians in the fight against the stupidity and divisiveness of a racist minority in this country is appalling.
Miss Kirkbride disappointed me with her comments last year when the National Front came to town, showing more concern for possible disturbances caused by those demonstrating against the mindless thugs.
I wished at the time she had shown an unequivocal disgust for such overtly racist marches.
With her latest actions, Miss Kirkbride forces those of us with traditional British values of tolerance and fair play to question her real feelings on race.
This is a demonstration of gutter-like and tabloidesque behaviour from an ex-journalist who should know better. Shame on you Miss Kirkbride.
