UNDER the direction of Kevin Hirons, this production showed without doubt how professional an amateur production can be.

The story centres on the Smith family who are eagerly awaiting the St Louis World Fair of 1904.

However, Mr Smith gets promotion at work, which means the family will have to move to New York.

Realising the unhappiness the move will cause the family, he reverses his decision at the eleventh hour, meaning they can all attend the World Fair after all.

The cast were so full of zest and enthusiasm the musical flowed faultlessly from beginning to end.

A spectacular entrance of the trolley bus caused rapturous applause during the final scene of Act 1.

If any actor had to be singled out it would have to be Gilly Webb, who played Esther Smith. Her performance was outstanding.

Excellent performances were also given by youngsters Kristina Cassidy as Tootie Smith and Natalie-Jayne Ward as Agnes Smith. Both these girls obviously have a brilliant future ahead of them.

A very enjoyable performance without doubt and we are looking forward to Hello Dolly next year.
