THE Worcestershire FA Senior Cup has gone outside the county for the first time in several years.
Moor Green won the trophy for the first time with a 4-2 extra-time success over Evesham United in the second leg of the final at Common Road last night.
That clinched a 5-3 aggregate victory, and prevented Evesham from rounding off a fine season with some silverware.
Robins boss Phil Mullen said: "We made a few mistakes along the way and made it very difficult for ourselves. We had our chances but the longer the game went on I was more concerned with our fitness levels."
In a fiercely-contested game, the Moors took a seventh minute lead when United failed to clear a cross and Jai Stanley hammered the ball into the roof of the net.
But the Robins, in their first final, levelled on 31 minutes when Steve McCartan surprised 'keeper Andy Debont with a 30-yard drive that went in off the post.
Moor Green regained the lead 19 minutes from time when Craig Woodley nipped in to lob home after keeper Damien Beattie and defender Jay Powell left a long ball to each other. But with eight minutes left, striker Shaun Pratt was brought down by Chris Gillard at least two yards outside the area, only for referee Mr G. Pearson to point to the penalty spot, McCartan converting.
Extra-time brought some good Evesham chances but the visitors were back in front after 97 minutes when Beattie failed to hold Stanley's shot and Derek Hall scored from the rebound.
Jae Martin raced clear to put the result beyond doubt with seven minutes left.
