SOME may admire Stephen Clee's persistence in writing to You Say as he seeks re-election to the county council but surely no one can admire his logic.
For example, he knows education and other county council services are funded by two sources i.e. directly from government and from the locally-collected council tax.
He understandably wants more money for education from central government. So, presumably he wants to improve education in the county. I wish that was the case.
However, he and his Conservative colleagues proposed to spend below the recommended level on Education (the SSA level).
If we want improved education, we must be willing to pay our share. One must ask if the Conservatives really want better education.
It seems they want more money from Government but not for education. We think an extra 37p a week for an average B and D taxpayer is money well spent.

Labour Spokesperson
for Education.
