TENDERS have now been put out for a scheme which will bring important developments to Bidford.
The extensive scheme, costing £2.6 million and devised as part of multi-agency policy, will eventually include a new primary school, a public library, a nursery and parish council rooms.
Warwickshire County Council development manager Paul Goffin said: "This has been devised after consultation with parish councillors, school governors, nursery representatives and library and heritage representatives.
"Although an outline design has been created, the final design has been left up to the contractors."
During this month, a sign will be put up showing residents what they can expect to be created.
County Councillor Brian Slaughter said the village needed the scheme.
He said: "We've been waiting for a library for 20 years. Until now, we've only had use of the mobile unit every fortnight and then only for an hour.
"With the new development, the library and school will be in the same complex so parents can take their children after school and this is something which should be encouraged.
"The parish rooms will be joined onto the school hall with sliding doors, which will be opened up if a concert is being held.
"This will cost about £2.6 million, which we hope to raise through the sale of the existing school site and other bits and pieces.
"A great deal of hard work has gone into getting this and the parish must be thanked for its support, as must Mrs Lisle who, when she was a councillor, made sure this scheme got started."
It is thought the scheme will be completed by September 2002.
