A NEW shop is just days away from opening in the centre of Alcester, which promises townsfolk something a little bit different.

Not only is the new shop, called Shannara, to sell women's day wear, something which is not particularly well catered for in the town at the moment, but it will also sell ethnic-style clothes.

At the back of the shop there will also be a ladies' evening wear section and hat section.

In addition to this, the shop, which will be opening in Henley Street, will be selling items of a more mystical nature, such as crystal balls and tarot cards.

Owner and manager Rebecca Waldron-Smith, who moved to Alcester nine years ago, believes the shop will provide something which, until now, has been missing from the town and will not duplicate any existing traders.

She said: "There is nothing like this in the town. We have a wonderful men's clothes shop but there isn't really anywhere to buy new ladies' clothes.

"And I want to include items such as the crystals because this is a subject I have always had a great fascination with.

"This is my first shop and it is such hard work but I have always wanted to do it.

"I felt that if I didn't do it now then I never would and I would regret it."

The shop, next to the barbers in Hardwick House, Henley Street, will be opening to shoppers on Saturday.
