FARMERS have been given extra time to submit applications for the Countryside Stewardship and Environmentally Sensitive Areas Scheme.
The closing date has been moved back to Thursday, May 31, but applications are still being welcomed by MAFF, despite having to stop farm visits due to foot-and-mouth.
The department has pledged to consider applications based on advice from professional advisers with a view to developing more comprehensive reports at a later date.
Application forms should be submitted with plans set out in as much detail as possible and posted to the nearest MAFF regional office.
When farm visits are resumed, normal on-site assessments and advice will be provided to ensure the best level of environmental enhancement.
Application forms with guidance are also available on the department website at www.maff,gov.uk/aboutmaf/regulat/regcont.htm
